Investigators with the York Regional Police Homicide Unit are seeking witnesses following a double shooting in the City of Markham.
On Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019, shortly after 11 p.m., York Regional Police responded to a restaurant located at 5460 Highway 7 East, after several calls came in reporting sounds of gunshots. When officers arrived, they located a man who was deceased at the scene and a woman who was suffering from gunshot wounds. She was transported to hospital and is now in critical condition.
Witnesses reported seeing a motorcycle fleeing from the scene at a high rate of speed. Any witnesses that may have seen or heard anything in the area are asked to contact police.
Investigators are also appealing to any nearby businesses or residences that may have video surveillance, or any drivers who may have dashcam footage to please come forward.
