One dead after shots fired in Whitchurch-Stouffville

Investigators with the York Regional Police Homicide Unit are seeking witnesses following a homicide in the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville.

On Friday, May 3, 2019 shortly after 4 a.m., York Regional Police responded to a residence located at 6336 Bloomington Rd. E., which is east of Ninth Line in the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville, for a weapons call. Information received was that there had been gun shots fired at a residence.

When officers arrived they located a man who was deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.

Preliminary information indicates that there may have been a party that had taken place at the residence that had been rented out for the night and it is believed that there were many people in attendance at the time of the shooting who left prior to police arrival.

Anyone who may have seen or heard anything are asked to contact police right away.

On Friday, May 3, 2019, shortly after 4:30 a.m., police were called to a residence on Bethesda Road for a suspicious person call. Information received was that there were two men who had been knocking on doors looking for someone to call them a taxi. When officers arrived they located two males hiding in nearby bushes and they were placed under arrest. Officers also located a handgun near where the men were arrested.
