Officers pull man from burning vehicle following Georgina collision

The 29-year-old man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after his BMW sport utility left Old Homestead Road early today

Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit are seeking witnesses after a serious collision in the Town of Georgina.

On Friday, Sept. 13, 2019, shortly before 1 a.m., police were called to Old Homestead Road, just east of Weir’s Sideroad for a single vehicle collision. When officers arrived they located a BMW sport utility vehicle off the roadway and on fire. Officers pulled the 29-year-old male driver out of the burning vehicle. He was suffering from life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains.

The investigation is ongoing and any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police or who may have dashcam footage of the incident or the driving behavior prior to the collision, is asked to come forward.
