Newmarket teen charged after car clocked at 180 km/h: OPP

On June 27, 2020 at 11:30 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a black southbound car for excessive speed on Highway 10, near the Village of Flesherton, in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.   

This car was travelling over 180 kilometres per hour in the posted 80 km/h speed limit.  

Grey Bruce OPP have charged the driver, a 17-year-old novice driver (G1) from Newmarket with stunt driving - 50km/h or more over posted speed limit, contrary to section 172(1) Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

This driver was issued a summons to attend court, a seven-day driver's licence suspension and the vehicle that was being operated was towed and will be impounded for seven days.
