Newmarket resident facing impaired driving charge

Police lay charges against two drivers in separate incidents

The South Simcoe Police Service charged two people with impaired driving offences on Wednesday, April 27.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers were conducting a RIDE program at the intersection of Simcoe Road and 6th Line in Bradford. As a result of this initiative, 32-year-old Anton Galliamov of Newmarket was charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired — excess blood alcohol. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.

At approximately 10:15 p.m., a South Simcoe Police Service officer observed a vehicle travelling erratically without rear lights on Innisfil Beach Road in Innisfil. A vehicle stop was conducted. As a result of an investigation, 53-year-old Samantha Handley of Burnt River was charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired — excess blood alcohol, drive without proper rear light, drive while under suspension and fail to have insurance card. Her licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle impounded for seven days.
