Newmarket man wanted in Newmarket, Aurora robberies

York Regional Police is seeking public assistance to locate a 19-year-old man who is wanted for two street-level robberies in the Towns of Aurora and Newmarket.

On Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, officers investigated a street-level robbery that had occurred at a restaurant located in the area of Yonge Street and Allaura Boulevard in Aurora.

Investigators determined four youths were sitting in the restaurant eating when they were approached by a suspect who assaulted all four of them and demanded they turn over phones, jewelry and clothing accessories. The youths complied and the suspect fled in a vehicle.

On Monday, Jan. 21, 2019, police were called to a restaurant located in the area of Yonge Street and Kingston Road. In this case, the same suspect approached a male and female who were parked in the lot outside of the restaurant. The suspect assaulted the male who was sitting in the driver’s seat of his vehicle, then stole items from him.

Investigators have been able to identify the suspect and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. Police are urging him to seek legal counsel and turn himself in. They are also appealing to anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact police immediately.
