Newmarket man, 71, seriously injured in Richmond Hill pedestrian collision

Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit are seeking witnesses following a serious pedestrian collision in the City of Richmond Hill.

On Monday, Nov. 30, 2020 at 6:41 p.m., York Regional Police were called to the intersection of Yonge Street and Regatta Drive for a report of a collision where a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle. When officers arrived, they found the pedestrian, a 71-year-old man from the Town of Newmarket, suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital where he remains.

The driver, a 52-year-old woman from the Town of Aurora, remained at the scene.

Investigators are appealing to any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police, anyone who may have dashcam footage or residential video surveillance of the collision, to please come forward.
