A massage therapist in Markham has been charged with sexual assault following an incident on Aug. 9, 2021, York Regional Police said.

Vaughan resident Masoud Zhian, 41, was arrested and charged after a 28-year-old female contacted police on Aug. 10 to report that she had been assaulted during a visit to a rehabilitation clinic.

The clinic, which is located on McIntosh Road near Woodbine Avenue  in Markham, is owned by Zhian, police said in a news release.

He previously owned a clinic at 372 Highway 7 East in Richmond Hill.

Zhian has been practising osteopathy since 2015 and has been a practising massage therapist since 2019.

YRP believes there could be more victims and encourages anyone with information to come forward.

Police are reminding the public that there is no statute of limitations for sexual assault and offenders can be prosecuted well after an incident has occurred.
