York Regional Police arrested a 16-year-old male from Markham in connection with the stabbing on Monday, May 9 near Yonge Street and Royal Orchard Boulevard at a Viva bus stop.

The teen is charged with: attempt to commit murder; possession of a weapon; aggravated assault; and two counts of YCJA breach of probation.

The second suspect remains outstanding. An updated description of this suspect is: Male, tall, thin-build, dark hair, clean shaven, wearing a red backpack, dark jacket and pants, red-and-white multi-coloured hoodie and sunglasses.

Investigators with the York Regional Police #2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking witnesses and two suspects after a stabbing in the City of Vaughan.

On Monday, May 9, 2022 at approximately 1:10 p.m., York Regional Police responded to the area of Yonge Street and Royal Orchard Boulevard for a report of a stabbing. When officers arrived, they located an adult male victim suffering from stab wound injuries. He was transported to hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries.

Officers determined that the incident happened outside a Viva bus. The victim, along with the second male suspect, were waiting at a bus stop in a southbound lane on Yonge Street. The first male suspect exited the bus when it came to a stop and stabbed the victim multiple times, while the second suspect recorded the incident on his cellphone.

The two male suspects fled the scene on foot prior to police arriving.

The first suspect is described as: Male, Black, 5’10”, with short, dark hair and braids.

The second suspect is described as: Male, tall and wearing sunglasses.

Investigators are appealing for any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police to come forward, as well, anyone with video surveillance or dashcam footage from the area at the time.
