One man sustained minor injuries following an incident in Newmarket Tuesday morning.

York Regional Police received a weapons call at 7:57 a.m. to the plaza at Yonge Street and Mulock Drive.

The male victim told police he had been hit in the head with what he believed was a handgun, Const. Maniva Armstrong said.

The victim received minor injuries but there are no other details at this time, she said.

Two suspects, one male and one female, are believed to be involved. They fled the scene before police arrived and investigators are working to identify them.

Police had taped off an area of the parking lot in the plaza at the southeast corner during the investigation.

There is no threat to the community, Armstrong said.
