Man injured in Highway 7 shooting in Vaughan

Investigators with the York Regional Police #4 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking witnesses following a shooting that occurred in the City of Vaughan.

On Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020, shortly after 4 a.m., York Regional Police received information from Peel Regional Police about a possible shooting that occurred in Vaughan. Officers learned that at approximately 2:40 a.m., a vehicle with two occupants was in the area of Highway 7 at Nova Star Drive in Vaughan, when another vehicle approached and a suspect inside fired shots at the occupants. A male victim was struck by shots and a female occupant was not injured.

The victims attempted to drive to hospital but stopped and called 911 from a location near Highway 50 in Peel Region.

The male victim was taken to hospital with what is now believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers are asking any witnesses who may have been in the area at the time who have not yet spoken to police to please come forward. Investigators are also seeking any video surveillance from the area or anyone that may have captured dashcam video on the roadways in the area.
