A 31-year-old man has been charged in connection with multiple recent break-and-enters in Newmarket and East Gwillimbury.

York Regional Police responded to a call for a break-and-enter at a restaurant in the area of Yonge Street and Davis Drive on Jan. 31. Investigation revealed that multiple restaurants in the area were also broken into that same night and into the next day. All the incidents were linked to the same suspect.

On Feb. 6, police executed a search warrant at a residence on Queen Street West in Newmarket connected to the suspect and arrested Jonathan Power, 31, of no fixed address.

He has been charged with 11 counts of break-and-enter.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the criminal investigations bureau at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7141 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-tips or online

This arrest comes after a rise of reported break and enters in the Newmarket area in the past week. A large number of these incidents were concentrated in the Yonge and Davis area.
