Man arrested in connection with sexual assaults at Vaughan Mills

Tyrone Medeiros is facing charges in connection with a sexual assault investigation in Vaughan.

A 27-year-old man from Forest, Ontario has been arrested in connection with sexual assaults reported by a mother with children at Vaughan Mills Sunday afternoon.

A 48-year-old woman was shopping with her children in a shoe store in the mall at Rutherford Road and Jane Street when a man touched her in a sexual manner on Sunday, June 4 at 4:35 p.m., York Regional Police said.

She left the store and the suspect followed her to the food court, where another assault occurred, police said.

After the woman notified mall security, police were called and a suspect was later arrested in the mall in connection with the incidents, police said.

Investigators are releasing his photo and are urging any additional victims or witnesses to come forward.

Tyrone Medeiros is charged with two counts of sexual assault.

A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. York Regional Police encourages anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a sexual assault to come forward and report the incident. There is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence.

  • the person who assaulted you is not present;
  • there is no evidence present that may be collected by police (blood, semen, saliva, etc.). Evidence can be collected for up to 12 days after the sexual assault has occurred;
