Man, 55, dies following collision in Whitchurch-Stouffville

Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit are seeking witnesses following a fatal collision in the Town of Whitchurch- Stouffville.

On Saturday, Oct. 12, 2019, at 6:30 p.m., York Regional Police were called to the intersection of York Durham Line and 19th Avenue for a two-vehicle collision. When officers arrived they found that a red Toyota Corolla had collided with a silver Nissan Altima. The driver of the red Toyota, a 55-year-old man from the City of Ajax, was suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital where sadly he succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the silver Nissan, a 63-year-old man from the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment.

The investigation is ongoing and any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police or who may have dashcam footage of the incident or the driving behavior prior to the collision, is asked to come forward.
