Loaded gun, conducted energy device seized in Vaughan traffic stop

Two men are facing a slew of charges after a loaded handgun and conducted energy device were seized from a vehicle during a traffic stop in Vaughan.

An officer on patrol in the area of Blue Willow Drive and Matthew Drive conducted a traffic stop on a black Dodge RAM with two occupants on Friday, March 24 at about 8:50 a.m., York Regional Police said in a news release.

The driver failed to identify himself and was investigated and arrested, police said. During a search of the vehicle, the loaded handgun and conducted energy device were seized, police said.

Trey Marong, 30, of Laval, Que. and Alexis Wilson, 24, of Brampton have been charged with 17 combined criminal offences, including personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution or obstruction of justice, breach of probation, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, unauthorized possession of a firearm in motor vehicle, possession of a weapon, careless storage of firearm, along with other firearm-related offences.

"York Regional Police remains committed to getting illegal guns off our streets and keeping our community safe," police said.
