King man charged in head-on collision that killed two

The 56-year-old male died at the scene Sunday, while a 52-year-old female succumbed to her injuries at hospital

Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit have charged a 23-year-old man after two people died in a fatal collision in the Township of King.

On Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019, at 2:45 p.m., York Regional Police attended a two-vehicle collision that had occurred on King Vaughan Road, east of Pine Valley Drive. Officers found that the 56-year-old male driver of a Hyundai Accent was deceased and a 52-year-old female, who was a passenger in that vehicle, was suffering from life-threatening injuries. She was transported to hospital where sadly she succumbed to her injuries.

The driver of a BMW M5 remained at the scene and was suffering from minor injuries. He was placed under arrest at the scene and has since been charged.

The investigation is ongoing and any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police or who may have dashcam footage of the incident or the driving behavior prior to the collision, is asked to come forward.
