A 31-year-old Holland Landing man is facing charges including drug impaired driving following a head-on collision in Bradford.

On Friday, April 12, 2019, just before noon, South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to a multi-vehicle collision on Bridge Street near Private Drive.

Investigation revealed that a westbound Suburban crossed over into oncoming traffic, colliding head on with an eastbound vehicle and causing a third vehicle to crash.

Six people in the two eastbound vehicles were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Suburban fled the scene on foot. An off-duty Toronto police officer chased the suspect for about one kilometre before arresting him without incident.

The driver is now facing serious charges including:

  • Dangerous operation;
  • Operation while impaired;
  • Failure to stop after accident;
  • Operation while prohibited;
  • Drug possession;
  • Driving while under suspension.

 The accused was released with a future court date.

Thanks to the quick thinking and action of the Toronto police officer, one more impaired driver has been apprehended.
