Holland Landing man among 3 charged with impaired driving: South Simcoe Police

Also charged over the long weekend was a Bradford man following a report of a driver asleep at the wheel in a drive-thru

South Simcoe Police Service officers charged three people with impaired driving over the long Family Day weekend:

On Friday, Feb. 12, 2021 at approximately 7:30 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle with its headlights off driving erratically on County Road 4 in Innisfil. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was arrested for impaired driving.

As a result of the investigation, 37-year-old Kevin Melo of Holland Landing was charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired - excess blood alcohol, and having an open container of liquor in the vehicle.

His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.

On Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021 at approximately 4:30 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of Innisfil Beach Road and Highway 400 in Innisfil for a fail to remain collision. The suspect vehicle was located in a parking lot on Industrial Park Road and the driver was arrested.

As a result of the investigation, 33-year-old Brock Small of Thornton was charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired - excess blood alcohol, dangerous operation, and fail to remain.

His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.

On Sunday, Feb. 14, 2021 at approximately 6:20 p.m., police responded to a fast food restaurant on Holland Street West for a report of a driver passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle in the drive-thru. The man was arrested for impaired driving and transported to South Division.

As a result of the investigation, 50-year-old Manuel Gomes of Bradford was charged with operation while impaired and failure or refusal to comply with demand.

His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.
