A 41-year-old Oshawa man is dead following a single-vehicle collision on Highway 404 north of Aurora Road this morning, according to the Ontario Provincial Police.

The vehicle was travelling southbound at 7:30 a.m., Aug. 5, when it "drifted off for some reason", and crossed the median into the ditch beside the highway, OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said.

The cause of the collision is not suspected to be either speed or alcohol, Schmidt said.

The northbound lanes remain closed at Aurora Road for the investigation, however, the southbound lanes have reen reopened.

Expect traffic delays, Schmidt said, while advising drivers to avoid the area until the northbound lanes reopen, likely by noon today.

Any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police are asked to contact the Aurora OPP detachment at 1-888-310-1122.
