Georgina woman charged in OMHA $2.4M fraud investigation

Investigators with the York Regional Police Financial Crimes Unit have charged a 45-year-old woman from the Town of Georgina in an ongoing investigation into funds being stolen from the Ontario Minor Hockey Association.

On Nov. 30, 2018, executives with the Ontario Minor Hockey Association contacted York Regional Police to advise that it had been defrauded of approximately $1 million by an employee. Investigators have since discovered that the accused, who had been employed as the Director of Finance, had stolen more than $2.4 million dollars from the association.

On Thursday, June 27, 2019, the accused was placed under arrest and a search warrant was executed at her residence.

Jennifer Robinson, 45, Town of Georgina

Charges:

  • Theft Over $5,000
  • Fraud Over $5,000
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Breach of Trust
  • Unauthorized Use of Computers
  • Proceeds of Crime

The accused has been released on bail and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on July 25, 2019.
