Employee stabbed in Vaughan convenience store robbery

Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit are seeking assistance in identifying two suspects following a robbery at a convenience store in the City of Vaughan.  

On Monday, Jan. 7, 2018, at approximately 6:45 p.m., York Regional Police were called to a convenience store on Bathurst Street at Rutherford Road for a report of a robbery.

Two male suspects entered the store and jumped over the counter. The first suspect grabbed the employee while the second suspect began taking cash from the register. The first suspect then stabbed the employee twice, before the suspects fled in a white SUV.

The victim was taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Suspect 1:

  • Male, Black
  • Wearing a black, hooded sweater with the hood up, a red shirt, black pants, white shoes, gloves and a white-and-black bandanna over his face
  • Armed with a knife

Suspect 2:

  • Male, Black
  • Wearing a dark-blue hooded sweater with the hood up, dark blue pants and a black puffy jacket

Investigators from the Hold-Up Unit remind business owners of the importance of maintaining and updating video surveillance equipment. Quality images help to identify suspects, can aid in arrests and have a tremendous impact during court proceedings.
