Driver suffers 'life-altering injuries' near Newmarket in dump truck collision

Police seek witnesses after dump truck strikes four vehicles travelling in opposite direction, one driver taken to trauma centre

York Regional Police is investigating after a dump truck struck four vehicles travelling in the opposite direction outside Newmarket that left three drivers injured, with one suffering "life-altering injuries."

Officers responded to the collision Nov. 25 around 2:50 p.m. in the area of Davis Drive and Warden Avenue in East Gwillimbury. Police said the dump truck struck the four vehicles, with the driver uninjured and remaining at the scene.

Of the four drivers struck by the dump truck, three were injured. One was transported to a trauma centre with life-altering injuries. Two others were transported to local hospital, one with minor injuries and one with serious injuries.

Police said the investigation is ongoing. 

Investigators are appealing to any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police to come forward and for anyone who may have dashcam footage of the area to come forward.
