Cyclist suffers life-threatening injuries in Markham collision

Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit are seeking witnesses following a serious collision involving a cyclist in the City of Markham.

On Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at approximately 8:15 a.m., officers responded to a collision on 19th Avenue east of Woodbine Avenue involving a passenger vehicle and a cyclist. When officers arrived, they found a 49-year-old female cyclist from the City of Markham suffering from life-threatening injuries. She was transported to hospital where she remains. The driver of the vehicle, a 57-year-old female from the City of Pickering remained at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing and any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police, or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the collision, are being asked to please come forward.
