Cyclist killed in Highway 9 hit and run (UPDATE)

Update: On April 22 at about 5 p.m.

A person has come forward to the OPP in connection with the fail-to-remain fatal collision last night, according to OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt.

No other suspects are being sought and no charges have been laid at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.

A 26-year-man is dead following a hit and run late Sunday on Highway 9 in Schomberg.

The cyclist was struck and killed on Highway 9, in the area of 15th and 17th sideroads, according to OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The stretch of Highway 9 between 15th and 17th sideroad, which had been closed in both directions since 10:30 p.m. Sunday as investigators searched for evidence and reviewed surveillance video, re-opened about two hours ago.

Police are appealing for the driver to surrender to police, and are asking witnesses to contact the OPP at 905-841-5777.
