36-year-old Newmarket man faces drunk driving charges

MUNICIPALITY OF MEAFORD - On March 1, 2019 approximately 11:06 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a possible impaired driver after a concerned citizen reported erratic driving.

Police stopped the suspect vehicle on Sykes Street North in the Municipality of Meaford and, after speaking with the driver, determined that he had been drinking alcohol.

After registering a "fail" on the approved roadside screening device, the driver was arrested and transported to an OPP Detachment for breath tests, which he failed.

36-year-old Matthew Polowyk of Newmarket, Ontario was charged with Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus). 

He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on March 14, 2019. The vehicle was impounded for seven days and his driver's licence was suspended for 90 days.
