Charges laid and suspect sought in bank robbery

Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit have charged one suspect and are seeking public assistance in identifying a second suspect following a bank robbery in the City of Vaughan.  

On Monday, March 4, 2019, at approximately 10:45 a.m., officers responded to a bank located on Jane Street south of Major Mackenzie Drive in the City of Vaughan for report of a bank robbery.

Two male suspects entered the bank with their faces covered and demanded cash. They obtained a quantity of cash and exited the bank as officers were pulling up on scene. The suspects fled in separate directions. One suspect got into a vehicle believed to be a white Volkswagen Jetta. The second suspect fled on foot and was pursued by officers until he was caught and arrested.

There were no weapons seen and no one was physically injured during the robbery.

The outstanding suspect is described as:

  • Male
  • Wearing a black sweater, white pants and a black balaclava

Charged:

  • A 16-year-old male from Brantford

Charges:

  • Robbery
  • Disguise with Intent

The investigation is ongoing.
