Aurora man charged following Christmas donation thefts from fire station

Investigators with the York Regional Police #1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau have charged a 45-year-old man following the theft of several Christmas donations in the Town of Aurora.

On Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2021, York Regional Police responded to the area of Edward Street and Englehard Drive for a report of a theft of Christmas donations. Officers learned that donations were missing from a bin located at York Central Fire Station. Following a review of video surveillance, it was discovered that between 3:30 a.m. and 4 a.m., on Dec. 8, 2021, a man removed several donations from a bin that were to support members in the community at Christmas.

Investigators were able to identify the suspect and on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021, investigators arrested the suspect at his residence.

Charged: 

  • Allan Gilpin, 45, of Aurora

Charges Include: 

  • Theft Under $5,000 x2

Mr. Gilpin is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on Jan. 25, 2022.
