Assault suspect sought after driver spat on by cyclist

The incident occurred in a Vaughan parking lot May 17

Investigators with the York Regional Police #4 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking public assistance to identify a suspect wanted for an assault that occurred in a parking lot in the City of Vaughan. On Friday, May 17, 2019, at 6:22 p.m., police were called to a plaza located at Centre Street and New Westminster Drive for a report of an assault.

The investigation has revealed that a female driver was driving through the parking lot behind the plaza when a male on a bicycle began riding toward her. She honked her horn to alert the cyclist. He stopped his bicycle in front of her vehicle and walked to the passenger side where he spat at the female driver hitting her in the face. The suspect then struck the passenger mirror of the vehicle causing it to break off.

The suspect rode away westbound on Centre Street. Investigators are releasing images of the suspect and appealing to anyone who may be able to assist with identifying him to please contact the police.

Suspect:

  • Male, white
  • 18 to 20 years
  • 6’
  • Wearing black clothing, blue running shoes, black baseball cap with a purple brim
  • Riding a white Trek mountain bike
