Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit are seeking assistance in identifying two suspects following a robbery at a bank in the City of Markham.

On Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019, shortly after 7 p.m., York Regional Police were called to a bank in the area of Woodbine Avenue north of Steeles Aveue for a report of a robbery.

Investigators learned that the bank was closing and an employee had opened the locked doors to let a customer out. The two suspects entered the bank pointing firearms at the employees and demanded cash.  One of the suspects went back behind the counter and obtained cash from the teller.

The suspects fled the scene when a customer entered the front area of the bank to use the ATM.

The suspects were both described as male, wearing balaclavas, black hoodies, black track pants and black gloves. One suspect was seen carrying a blue coloured duffle bag.

Investigators from the Hold-Up Unit remind business owners of the importance of maintaining and updating video surveillance equipment. Quality images help to identify suspects, can aid in arrests and have a tremendous impact during court proceedings.
