Armed bank robberies in Aurora, Markham occur simultaneously

It's the second time in as many days that an armed robbery has occurred at a bank in Aurora

York Regional Police are on the scene of two armed bank robberies that occurred within moments of each other.

A CIBC branch at 660 Wellington St. East in Aurora, and an HBSC branch at 3636 Steeles Ave. East in Markham were both hit by bandits at about 2:30 p.m. Jan. 16.

Police say no physical injuries have been reported.

Citizens can expect a heavy police presence at both locations as investigations continue.

Police are continuing to search for two suspects who robbed an HSBC branch at Bayview Avenue and Hollidge Blvd. in Aurora on Tuesday, Jan. 14, shortly after 2 p.m. Two men, wearing bandanas over their faces and one armed with a handgun, fled with cash in a dark-coloured sedan.
