Are you a victim of a burglary? Police may have your stolen items

York Regional Police have set up an online album of unclaimed property from break-and-enters that occurred across York Region prior to Jan. 13, 2021

York Regional Police is looking for the owners of a quantity of stolen property that was recovered following a 2021 investigation into multiple break-and-enters across York Region.

On Jan. 5, 2021, a grey Mazda Tribute was stolen from a residential driveway in the Township of King. The following week, on Jan. 13, officers went to the scene of a break-and-enter in Richmond Hill where the suspects attempted to flee in the stolen Mazda, police said.

The vehicle was recovered and a quantity of stolen property was found. Investigators have linked the recovered property to multiple break-and-enters that occurred in the region and many items have been returned to their owners, police said.

However, not all of the property has been claimed and officers have been unable to locate the owners.

A Flickr album has been set up with photographs of the unclaimed stolen items. Police are asking anyone who was a victim of a residential break-and-enter prior to Jan. 13, 2021 to review the photos and contact police if any of the items are yours.

There will be a process to verify ownership before collecting any property. Images of the stolen property can be found here.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the York Regional Police #1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7140, or call or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or leave an anonymous tip online at www.1800222tips.com.
