An 81-year-old Bradford man struck by a vehicle on Holland Street West in Bradford has succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

On Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018 around 7 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck in the area of Holland Street West and Deer Run Crescent in Bradford West Gwillimbury.

Officers learned that a westbound Hyundai Tuscon stopped on Holland Street West to make a left turn onto Deer Run Crescent was rear-ended by a Jeep Liberty. Both drivers exited their vehicles and stood in the road to assess the damage. A third westbound vehicle, a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, then collided with the Jeep, pushing it forward where it struck the Jeep driver.

Paramedics transported the 81-year-old Bradford man to a local hospital. He was later taken to a Toronto trauma centre with critical injuries. The man passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019.

The other drivers suffered minor injuries.

The road was closed for several hours for a a collision reconstruction investigation by Traffic Unit officers.

The investigation is ongoing.
