York Regional Police and the Canadian Border Services Agency have rescued 64 people and arrested seven others in an international labour trafficking ring investigation.
The local force worked alongside members of the Provincial Human Trafficking Intelligence-Led Joint Forces Strategy on Project Norte and rescued 64 Mexican-born people who were being exploited, according to York Region Police.
Seven people have been charged in relation to criminal human trafficking.
