3 suspects arrested following violent Markham bank robbery

Three suspects are in custody following an armed robbery at a Markham bank in which four employees were injured.

The suspects fled the RBC branch in the area of 16th Avenue and Markham Road at around 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, but were apprehended with the assistance of the York Regional Police canine unit.

The suspects were armed with knives and a pistol.

Prior to the arrival of police, four bank employees were injured. All four victims were transported to hospital. One of the employees is seriously injured with multiple stab wounds, however, none of the injuries are life threating, police said.

A heavy police presence in the area can be expected as the investigation continues.
