20-year-old woman sexually assaulted on Markham bus

York Regional Police have released images of the suspect wanted in connection with the incident on Tuesday evening

Investigators with the York Regional Police Special Victims Unit – Sexual Assault Section are seeking assistance to identify a suspect following a sexual assault that occurred in the City of Markham.

On Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at approximately 10:15 p.m., a 20-year-old female was riding the bus in the area of Country Glen Road and Church Street. When the bus stopped, a male suspect sexually assaulted the victim as he exited the bus.

Investigators are releasing images of the suspect and appealing for public assistance to identify him.

Suspect described as:
    •    Male, 20s
    •    Dark complexion
    •    Approximately 5’10
    •    Slim build
    •    Wearing a black hoodie with the hood up and black pants

A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. York Regional Police would like to encourage anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a sexual assault to come forward and report the incident to police. There is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence.

    •    There is no evidence present that may be collected by police (blood, semen, saliva, etc.). Evidence can be collected for up to 12 days after the sexual assault has occurred
