Two teenagers have been arrested after a video was posted to social media in which threats were made against schools in Aurora today, York Regional Police said.

The incident was reported to police at about 10:45 a.m. on May 30. In the video, a teen is shown holding what appeared to be a firearm and making a threat.

Two schools in Aurora were put on hold and secure, meaning classes carried on but there was no entry or exit to the building.

According to a post in a local Aurora Facebook group, the schools were Aurora High School and nearby Wellington Public School.

Investigators were able to quickly identify and locate the two teens who made the video and both have been arrested. Police said their names will not be released due to their ages.

Police determined that the guns in the video — which will not be released — are replica firearms.

At 12:12 p.m., York Region District School Board responded to a parent's tweet about the situation and said, "The hold and secure has been lifted and all students and staff are safe. Classes will resume as scheduled and an email communication will be shared with families."

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact #1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-866-876-5423, ext.7141, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or leave an anonymous tip online.
