2 men charged with murder in shooting death of Whitchurch-Stouffville man

Investigators with the York Regional Police homicide unit have charged two people with first degree murder after a 35-year-old man was found deceased in the City of Richmond Hill.

On Dec. 31, 2021, at approximately 12:40 p.m., officers received a call regarding a body located in the area of Gormley Court in Richmond Hill. When officers arrived, they located an adult male who was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The victim has been identified as Walid Saraj, 35, of Whitchurch-Stouffville. A post-mortem examination determined the cause of death to be gunshot wounds.

On Jan. 27, 2022, two suspects were arrested in the Ottawa area. They have both been charged.

Charged:
Guled Warsame, 29, of no fixed address
Wissame Ghaith, 18, of Gloucester

Charge:
First degree murder

Investigators are also appealing to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area, who has not yet spoken to police, to please come forward. They are also asking anyone who has commercial or residential video surveillance, which may have captured something suspicious, to contact investigators.
