2 men charged after armed carjacking at Markham gas station

The suspects were arrested while attempting to carjack another vehicle in Richmond Hill Sunday, York Regional Police say

Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit have charged two men following an investigation into a carjacking in the City of Markham.

On Saturday, March 19, 2022 at approximately 6:50 p.m., York Regional Police were called to a gas station, located in the area of Steeles Avenue East and Acadia Avenue, for a report of a carjacking.

The victim was putting fuel in his 2016 black Range Rover, when two male suspects approached him. One suspect was carrying a knife and demanded the victim’s keys. The victim refused and the second suspect entered the vehicle, locating the keys in the ignition. The suspect stole the vehicle and left the area while the first suspect followed in a white Ford Edge.

On Sunday, March 20, 2022, around 3 p.m., investigators learned the two suspects from the white Ford Edge were attempting to carjack a silver Mecedes G-Wagon, in the area of Red Maple Road and High Tech Road, in Richmond Hill.

Investigators located the two suspects and arrested them.

CHARGED:

  • Alaelddein ALHAJSALEM, 24, of Toronto 
  • Nouth Fathi Saeid HAREBA, 24, of Toronto

CHARGES: 

  • Robbery x2 
  • Disguise with intent x2
