2 arrested after teenager robbed on the street in Newmarket

Two teenagers from Stratford were arrested after robbing another teenager on the street in Newmarket. 

The incident happened at about 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 27, in the area of Yonge Street and Davis Drive. 

An 18-year-old male from Ottawa had his cellphone and cash stolen by two other teenagers, Const. Maniva Armstrong with York Regional Police said. 

The two suspects, both male, aged 19 and 16, from Stratford were arrested by police shortly after. They were charged with robbery and resisting arrest. 

Armstrong said the stolen items were recovered.
