Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit have charged a 19-year-old man from Markham in connection with three carjacking robbery incidents.

On Friday, Nov. 22, 2019 at 8:50 p.m., York Regional Police were called to a residence on Sylvia Court for a report of a carjacking with shots fried. Officers learned a male victim had been shot and three male suspects, wearing masks and black clothing, stole the victim’s red Lamborghini SUV. The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. On Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019 at approximately 10 a.m., an officer with the Ontario Provincial Police located the stolen vehicle in an industrial area on Commercial Road in Bolton.

On Monday, Nov. 25, 2019 at 8:50 p.m., York Regional Police were called to the area of Yonge Street just south of Highway 407 for a report of a carjacking. Officers learned that a male victim had been parked on Helen Avenue just west of Yonge Street, sitting in his vehicle with it running, when he was struck from behind by a dark-coloured vehicle.

Four male suspects wearing masks and black clothing got out, threatened the victim and demanded his keys. The victim ran from the area and the suspects drove away in the victim’s black Mercedes Benz SUV. A short time later, officers with the Toronto Police Service located the stolen vehicle in a parking lot in the area of Sheppard Avenue and Don Mills Road in Toronto.

Through the investigation, officers linked a third incident from Peel Region to the same suspect. On Jan. 29, 2020, two suspects operating a silver Honda Civic intentionally bumped into another vehicle, a Mercedes G-Wagon. The victim exited his vehicle and was approached by the accused, who was armed with a handgun. The victim turned his vehicle over and the suspects drove away.
