Investigators with the York Regional Police Special Victims Unit – Sexual Assault Section are seeking witnesses and assistance to identify a suspect wanted for a sexual assault that occurred in the Town of Georgina.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, shortly after 10:30 p.m., when a 14-year-old female victim was walking in the area of The Queensway South. A male suspect began following the victim east toward Metro Road South, then north along Metro Road South. She was approached by the suspect who hugged her from behind, picked her up, threw her to the ground and sexually assaulted her. The victim defended herself from the suspect while yelling for help.

The suspect fled the area. The victim suffered non-life-threatening physical injuries. The suspect was not known to the victim.

Suspect description:

  • Male, white, unshaven
  • 30 years
  • Wearing a black hoodie with a logo, black shorts with a white trim

Investigators continue to be in the area canvassing for witnesses and video. Investigators have opened a digital evidence portal where members of the community can upload any photos, video surveillance or dashcam footage of the [assault]. A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. York Regional Police would like to encourage anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a sexual assault to come forward and report the incident to police. There is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence.

If you are the survivor of sexual assault, you can report the incident online if:

  • You are not in danger
  • The person who assaulted you is not present
  • There is no evidence present that may be collected by police (blood, semen, saliva, etc.). Evidence can be collected for up to 12 days after the sexual assault has occurred.
  • You have access to a private email address, to which the suspect does not have access
