A fifth suspect has been charged in an alleged attack on a 37-year-old woman who was abducted weeks later from a home in an Ontario town.

York Regional Police say Elnaz Hajtamiri was violently assaulted with a frying pan in an underground parking lot in Richmond Hill, Ont., on Dec. 20, 2021.

Police say a 25-year-old man from British Columbia has been charged with aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, becoming the fifth person charged in the attack – Hajtamiri's ex-boyfriend is among the other suspects.

Hajtimiri has not been seen since police say she was abducted from a relative's  home in Wasaga Beach, Ont., on Jan 12, 2022, by three suspects armed with a gun, wearing imitation police gear and disguised in balaclavas.

Her family says she was hiding out there after alleged threats from her ex-boyfriend escalated.

A $100,000 reward has been issued for information leading to her whereabout as police continue their search for her and the suspects in her abduction.
