It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Reverend Cecil W. Tiller, at the age of 88, on Saturday, September 17th, 2022 at his home at Alexander Muir in Newmarket ON.
Born in St. John’s Nfld on May 25th 1934, Cecil was the son of the late Cecil & Jane Tiller. He was the youngest of three children. Cecil grew up in St. John’s where he attended Bishop’s Field College. He was passionate about sports, especially participating in Track and Field, baseball and won several awards for his efforts. Cecil eventually traveled to the mainland to study at ACTC (Atlantic Christian Training Center) and received his degree from Mount Allison University in Sackville NB and Pine Hill Divinity Hall in Halifax, NS. Throughout his career in ministry he held pastoral charges in New Brunswick, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Newfoundland.
Forever remembered by his daughter Janice Prince (Rob), his son Geoff Tiller (Stacey), Christine Tiller and his grandchildren Ryan, Megan and Henry. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff and residents at Alexander Muir Retirement Residence, where Dad lived for the past 6 years, for their compassion and kindness. They became a second family to him and he thought the world of them.
Visitation to be held at Taylor Funeral Home in Newmarket on Saturday September 24th from 2:30 - 4:00 pm followed by the memorial service at 4:00pm.
