Lorna Mitchell passed away peacefully at her home on April 1st, 2023. Lorna was the last of her seven siblings. She is predeceased by her loving husband, William Robert Mitchell and her daughter Susan Foster and survived by her two children, Katherine Farnsworth and Robert Mitchell, her grandchildren Cheri Foster, Katherine Foster, Jessica Rancourt, Michael Mitchell and Lorne Mitchell and her great-grandchildren, Tawnya Foster, Sebastian Anderson, Wyatt Rancourt and Austin Rancourt.
Lorna was born on October 21, 1925 and grew up in Toronto’s Cabbage Town. She learned from a very early age to live a modest but full lifestyle. She excelled in school, graduating two years ahead of her peers. In her business career she was recognized quickly as a leader and innovator. Lorna progressed from an entry level position at Grand & Toy to finish as a member of the Executive Committee where she retired after thirty-three years. Lorna was involved with organizations including EWI (Executive Women’s International) where she became President of the Toronto Chapter. She was active on the board at her Florida home at Bay Aristocrat in Clearwater, fulfilling several roles including President.
Lorna lived a long, fulfilling and happy life. She will be forever missed by her family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Taylor Funeral Home, 524 Davis Drive in Newmarket on Tuesday, April 11th, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
