Passed away peacefully at his home, in Toronto, in his 75th year. Loving husband of Amelia Amaro Baker for 17 years. Beloved father of Adrienne Baker. Proud grandfather of Elaine and Owen.
Barry first moved to Canada with both parents at 13 years of age where he explored the Eglington flats and found a love for baseball, tennis and film. He enjoyed travels in California and the Caribbean which he carried on later in life after meeting the the love of his life Amelia at York University. There he studied journalism and continued his education later in life at University of Toronto where he found excitement in art history. Often described as ”quite a character” Barry excelled in sales in his early career. He was a great friend to all animals, sometimes preferring animals and children to real grown ups around him. He lit up like a child with the mention of lovable pets or a beach adventure. He found a new love of travel later in life, making his way to Sweden twice to meet his grandchildren and brave the Nordic Sea. He enjoyed many sun and sand filled days with his family, and could often be found at Toronto's beaches with a snorkel in hand.
He will be missed but never forgotten and always loved by firecracker daughter, active grandchildren and supportive family and friends.
There will be a private celebration of life Sunday August 21st, 2022.
