QUEBEC — Hugo Richard is determined to get the powerhouse Laval Rouge et Or into the Vanier Cup for a third straight season.

He went 19 for 28 for 279 yards with three touchdown passes as the Rouge et Or downed the Concordia Stingers 47-9 on Saturday to open the 2018 U Sports football season with back-to-back wins.

Running back Chirstopher Amoah helped the offence by picking up 97 rushing yards with a touchdown on just 12 carries for the Rouge et Or (2-0).

Adam Vance was 14 for 24 for 185 yards in the air for the Stingers (0-1), who fell behind early and struggled to finish any time they made it into Laval territory. Kicker Andrew Stevens supplied seven points with two field goals and a rouge, while the Rouge et Or conceded a safety at the end of the game.

Richard led Laval over the Calgary Dinos in the 2016 Vanier Cup final before the Rouge et Or fell in last year's edition against the Western Mustangs.
