Do you have a question for local candidates wishing to represent you at Queen's Park?

You're invited to submit questions for the candidates running in the June 2 provincial election who are participating in an in-person debate hosted by the Newmarket Chamber of Commerce, NewmarketToday and the Newmarket Era/Metroland York Region on Thursday, May 19 at the NewRoads Performing Arts Centre in Newmarket.

Candidates will be asked questions on the top issues of the election by a panel of journalists, as well as have an opportunity to respond to other candidates' answers.

You can send your questions for the candidates to Debora Kelly at [email protected] by May 16, and watch for the reader poll on NewmarketToday to have your say on the issues most important to you.

You'll also have the opportunity to meet and speak with participating candidates in the theatre lobby from 6:30 to 7 p.m. prior to the debate.

All registered candidates have been invited to the debate. To date, candidates confirmed to attend are Sylvain Roy for the Liberal Party, Dennis Heng for the NDP, and Iwona Czarnecka for the Blue Party. Confirmation is pending for Dawn Gallagher Murphy for the Progressive Conservative Party.

The event takes place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. May 19 at the NewRoads Performing Arts Centre (former Newmarket theatre), 505 Pickering Cres. (at Newmarket High School, near Mulock and College Manor drives).

You can read the latest provincial election stories, and learn more about the candidates, on our Ontario Votes section.
