NEWS RELEASE
YORK REGIONAL POLICE SERVICE
*************************
Chief Eric Jolliffe is proud to announce York Regional Police has been named, for the fifth year running, one of Greater Toronto’s Top 100 employers for 2020, a designation that recognizes employers who lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work.

The Greater Toronto’s Top 100 Employers competition is an editorial project by Mediacorp Canada Inc., the nation’s largest publisher of employment periodicals. The Top 100 Employers project recognizes employers with exceptional human resources programs and forward-thinking workplace policies.

Employers are graded on eight criteria, which have remained consistent since the project's inception: physical workplace; work atmosphere and social; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time-off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development and community involvement.

“I am very proud to accept this designation once again and hope all members take pride in it as well,” said Chief Eric Jolliffe. “Our members work hard every day to ensure the safety and security of our community. To do this to the best of their ability, we know that as an employer, we must support our people through progressive programs, wellness initiatives and inclusivity. Our people, together with our community, make York Regional Police the success it is.”

Some of the benefits that set York Regional Police apart from other GTA employers include: As part of the organization's efforts to create a diverse and inclusive workforce, York Regional Police maintains a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Bureau and offers a number of in-house training on topics such as mental readiness, transgender awareness and Aboriginal cultural competency.

York Regional Police invests in long-term career development with tuition subsidies for job-related courses, opportunities for formal mentoring and career-planning services. York Regional Police helps employees plan securely for the future with contributions to a defined benefit pension plan and retirement planning assistance - and maintains a dedicated Retirees Association to help retirees stay active in the community.
