The latest movie to come out of Brain Power Studio is a romantic comedy filmed in Newmarket and surrounding area.

The film, 14 Love Letters, is the latest project from the local production company to premier on Super Channel's Heart & Home. It follows the story of Kallie Sharp, a hobby-farmer who embarks on a search for her secret admirer after love letters start showing up in her mailbox.

Kallie is played by Canadian actress Vanessa Sears, who has starred in other romantic movies as well as the TV series Sex/Life and an episode of the show Suits. Other stars include Franco Lo Presti, Madeleine Claude and Kim Roberts.

Newmarket locales also played a part in the film. The town library scenes were filmed at Newmarket Public Library and just around the corner on Main Street at Cardinal Press Espresso, which became Vinyl Cafe for the film.

Outside of Newmarket, Lion's & Sons in Sharon was used for Maeve's Diner, while Wake Robin Farm in Mount Albert became the backdrop for Jackson's Farm.

The scrip was written by romance novelist Jennifer Snow. The Canadian-born writer has penned more than 30 award-winning novels and has served as Audrey's Books Writer in Residence and an Edmonton Public Library Spotlight Writer.

For this movie she partnered with Newmarket-based Brain Power Studio, which produces live-action and animated films that air all around the world.

14 Love Letters premiered in Canada on Superchannel's Heart & Home on Jan. 22. It will be shown throughout the month on Jan. 26, 30, 31, and Feb. 7, 8, 15, and 18. The full schedule is available on Superchannel's website along with information about where to watch.
