NEWS RELEASE
REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY OF YORK
********************

Grab your coziest sweater, wrap your favourite scarf around your neck and pour yourself a steaming cup of apple cider… Fall is upon us!

In York Region there is no shortage of ways to make the most of this beautiful season and remind us why we #loveyr. We’ve rounded up some engaging excursions, fun frolics and picturesque pit-stops you will need to make this an amazing autumn.

Capture those colours: The only thing better than stepping on the perfect crunchy leaf might be snapping the perfect shot of those reds, golds, yellows and oranges. Spend the next crisp and sunny day walking the trails at Sheppard’s Bush in Aurora or birdwatching at Cold Creek Conservation Area in King Township. You will be marvelling at the beauty of our region’s natural landscape.

Admire some art: If you prefer to stay warm and cozy as the weather cools, spend an afternoon in the Markham wandering the halls of the Varley Art Gallery. You’ll be brimming with cultured observations to share at those fast-approaching holiday parties.

Master a maze (and pick some pumpkins): Challenge yourself to escape the corn maze at Strawberry Creek Farm and take home some perfectly ripe produce grown right here inNewmarket. Fall is the harvest season – you can’t get tastier or healthier (for you and the environment) than local, in-season fruits and vegetables.

Dive into the drive-in: Whether you are looking for a romantic date night or a fun outing for the whole family, you can’t go wrong with a movie under the harvest moon. Pull up to the Stardust Drive-in Theatre in East Gwillimbury to enjoy the latest Hollywood flicks and a big tub of popcorn, all from the comfort of your car. Pyjamas welcome.

Walk by the water: Take in a stunning fall sunset overlooking Lake Simcoe at Willow Wharf Park in Georgina. Enjoy the last few months of glittering water – the ice huts will be out before we know it.

All aboard for adventure: Take a ride to Halloween town, wind your way through a magical wizarding world or just sit back and enjoy the fall colours whizzing by your window – you can do it all at the York Durham Heritage Railway. This classic 1950s train, in Whitchurch-Stouffville, hosts tours and themed events for all ages all season long.

Celebrate in the city: Whether you are there to catch the subway into Toronto or staying to explore Vaughan's new downtown, you’ll love the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre’s bustling urban squares, shopping areas, restaurants and walking paths.

Enjoy some entertainment: Catch a fabulous show during the 10th anniversary season at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts, including world-class musicians, comedians and children’s performers.

We love seeing York Region residents enjoying all the great things our Region has to offer. Show us what you are up to by taking a photo and sharing it on social media using #loveyr. For more great ideas on things to do in York Region, visit the official tourism website, ExperienceYorkRegion.com
